World Student Games in China

The 26th Summer Universiade (World Student Games) will be held in Shenzhen, China from August 12 to 23, 2011. The Organizing Committee is inviting journalists from around the world to cover the Games.

The Shenzhen Universiade will be the largest Universiade ever. Approximately 13,000 athletes and coaches from more than 100 countries and regions will compete for 306 gold medals in 24 disciplines. Many countries have promised to send their best athletes, among them Olympic gold medalists. Shenzhen Universiade will use more than 60 venues, all of them of  ‘Olympic quality.’  Moreover, the host city, Shenzhen, one of the most important cities in China, being an economic powerhouse as well as a tourist attraction, will guarantee an exciting and pleasant stay for all Universiade participants.

The Organizing Committee will offer a variety of services for journalists, including:

•  Free work space at the Main Press Center and most other venues;

•  Shuttle buses to and from the hotel and all the venues;

•  Food allowances;

•l  Free internet access at the hotel and all the venues;

•  A newly opened five star hotel within walking distance of the Main Press Center will be available, costing journalists about 100 euros per night for a standard suite.
