Aces has returned to the airwaves of Sportsnet 590 The FAN for its third full season. The first hour-long program dedicated to tennis on mainstream radio in Canada, Aces has grown from a three-show pilot in 2009 to a successful annual series featuring interviews with some of the sport’s top players, coaches, and journalists as well as discussions about all the news from on and off the court.

“We are very pleased to be continuing this partnership with Rogers and Sportsnet 590 The FAN, and we thank them for their immense support of tennis,” said Michael S. Downey, president and CEO, Tennis Canada. “With tennis continuing to grow across Canada, Aces is an important program to have available for those looking for more tennis content and it has developed into a fantastic medium for fans to engage with the sport.”

Tom Tebbutt

Tom Tebbutt and veteran radio personality Roger Lajoie will be returning as co-hosts of the program. Canada’s top tennis journalist, Tebbutt brings over 35 years of experience in the sport to Aces and he will continue to provide expert analysis and insight into the tennis world.

“We are looking forward to building on the second season of Aces with more interviews, tennis talk, and fan interaction,” said Tebbutt. “Due to Milos Raonic’s climb up the rankings, interest in tennis is high right now and shows no signs of slowing down as we get ready for an exciting summer. We will be discussing all of the action on the court and more and hope tennis fans will join us in the conversation.”

Aces will air throughout the summer until the end of the US Open, and each show will feature interviews with different tennis personalities. Past guests include John McEnroe, Jim Courier, Martina Navratilova, Kim Clijsters, Serena Williams, Milos Raonic, and Stacey Allaster. Fan interaction and prizing will also be a key component of the program, with e-mails, calls, and tweets taken live on air.

The season premiere aired on Thursday May 3 at 7 p.m. Aces is heard on Thursdays at 7 p.m. ET following Prime Time Sports with Bob McCown, the most-listened to sports radio show in North America. Fans can listen by tuning in live on AM 590 or visiting www.fan590.com.
