Cover the European Athletics Championship in your Armchair

LAUSANNE, May 29, 2012 – Media and athletics fans around the world will be able to click through to the live stream link from the European Athletics website homepage and watch the championships live in their entirety.

Viewers will be able to instantly rewind the action and watch video on demand of an event just a few minutes after it has finished.

English commentary will add colour to the live action throughout the 27 June to 1 July event. 

The live stream page is scheduled to be opened on 20 June.

Athletes’ post-competition interviews will be uploaded to the European Athletics YouTube site  www.youtube.com/europeanathletics throughout the championships.

Videos, photos, news articles and more will be posted to the new European Athletics Championships Facebook fan pagefacebook.com/EuropeanAthleticsChampionships and dedicated Twitter feed @Euro_Champs www.twitter.com/Euro_Champs throughout the championships.

The European Athletics website www.european-athletics.org will carry all the latest news from Helsinki 2012 in the final month leading up to the event and throughout the five-day championships.

YOU CAN GET THE NEW ‘APP’ NOW

Helsinki 2012 has unveiled their app for this summer’s European Athletics Championships. In cooperation with Fonecta, the app, named ‘Appy’ like the event mascot, was released for download. With the release of Appy comes the start of a new European Athletics Championships experience.

The app will provide live competition results, along with athlete profiles and the latest event news. In addition to all these functions, daily competitions will be posted for you to enter along with race day pictures and local information. Appy will bring a whole new experience for those wanting to stay up to date with the European Athletics Championships this year.

“The European Athletics Championships will be in Helsinki from 27 June to 1 July for five days, and they’re expecting around 150,000 spectators. Appy is designed not only for the competition visitors, but also TV viewers and journalists around the world. This data allows you to be an expert of the games from afar,” said Helsinki 2012 general secretary Esa Honkalehto.

“You can also take advantage of Fonecta’s osuma.fi information service that can be found on Appy. Osuma.fi acts as a local directory allowing you to find and locate a multitude of services around Helsinki,” said Fonecta’s Vesa-Pekka Kirsi.
