While the majority of competitors are European, three Canadians will play the championship this year. Don Palkowski, a 25 year veteran with MacLeans and Steve Spencer, a former journalist professor at Fanshawe College in Hamilton and Sports Media Canada Board of Directors member Alec Bollini, a frequent participant in the World Journalists’ event.

Former Sports Media Canada president, George Gross was instrumental in Canada joining the World Journalists’ Tennis Championships and this country played host to the event in 1989 in  Aurora, Ont.

Russia, with a coterie of excellent tennis players, was the champion last year. No site has yet been chosen for 2013.
