Canada at World Journalists Tennis Championships

The 2011 edition of the World Tennis Championships for Journalists was held in Montenegro, a former province of Yugoslavia. Over a hundred racquet wielding journalists were on hand, including two Canadians, Charles Todd and Alec Bollini.

The weather in the town of Budva was as near perfect as possible which provided for constant play on the five red clay courts.

The good news for the Canadian team was Charles Todd’s performance, advancing to the singles quarter finals, losing to the eventual champion from Slovenia.

Other than tennis, the chatter centered around the scandal involving FIFA and European soccer in general. Too much money, accusations of bribes and cover up could bring serious charges against club owners and even members of FIFA.

All of which mattered not .. in the sun … and the sea … and the mountains of spectacular Montenegro.
